and then we went south. we went to the beach at brela and played TABLE TENIS. simon says it was the ping pong game of the year. it was so intense that al ripped a hole into his swimsuit. makarska was next on the agenda. we planned to camp, but, once again, then there was rain. fortunately, we found an apartment that totally rocked our worlds. simon got to have a bubble bath, i got to play piano, and tim had his own dance floor. he tried to teach me salsa but i just couldn't swing my hips in the right way. simon made a nice and delicious dinner, followed by, what has become my favorite drink: swedish coffee. we had a pre-party with fronda AND I learned to play plump (and, for the record- i won!)

we went out on the town. spat some beats, and beatboxed until we stumbled upon the perfect party scene. the boys were happy because the bar projected the next closest thing you can find to porn, on a huge screen on the bar. then, tim laid the moves on the pretty ladies sitting across from us at the bar when he asked them for a light. that is how we met the crazy norwegian girls. the girls introduced us to a drinking game involving ice cubes and lip locking. that set the mood for the rest of the night. the boys showed neil strauss how it was done. to varying degrees. we also tried to go to this bar in a cave but there was no one there. but that didn't put an end to our night. we went back to the bar. simon mysteriously disappeared, the rest of us continued to drink and have heart to hearts.

the bar closed. but we were not done yet. we had an afterparty. i can't really tell you how it was because i passed out pretty quickly. these party animals were too much for me to handle. BUT I heard that the lights did not go out until the sun came up (around 5:30 or so). About 3 hours later, Al burst into the room singing morning has broken. that did NOT rock my world. the four of us (and one norwegian girl haha) scrambled to get our act together. we only had about 25 minutes to pack up everything and head out to go rafting. we were all either terribly hung over, or, still drunk.

but we made it. just. we were there with 2 minutes to spare. they were there 30 minutes late. so we had breakfast bottoms up on the side of the road and then we went rafting. we had the 2 best guides in croatia : tony and alex. they took us through one of the most picturesque and serene places in the world. i felt as though i was in a fairytale. the rapids we really cool, and we cruised through the water without difficulty. if any of us were still hungover (and there should be no doubt in your mind that we were) we had a wake up call when we went into a cave, which was filled with ice cold spring water. we had to swim across a pool of water when were in the cave. it was sooo crazy--- and yes al- it WAS for real. after the cave, al and simon jumped off a 5 metre cliff. no big deal. tim and I (the smart ones) stayed dry. when it was all over, we destroyed a bag of chips (our hunger had gotten the better of us) and then went for grilled sandwiches. we have spent the rest of the day driving through the mountains and countryside trying to find a spot to camp. we have found one. we're actually just drinking beer in the car as we try to mount the courage to set up the tent. we'll see when that happens. ummmm yeah. all in all a great day. beautiful. we're taking it easy tonight (i expect) so that we're ready to go crazy for al's birthday party tomorrow. in split. so be ready for some crazy stories. LOVE to all of simon's friends and readers. `katie

I woke up this morning in a small green tent, but it felt like a finnish sauna because for once the sun was shining.

So me and Tim took off our clothes and ran down to the beautiful green lake and took a nice morning swim. I guess the fishermen on the other side of the lake just looked at eachother and said: ”tourista tourista.”

After destroying our camp and a small breakfast we got back on the road.

And I can tell you that Simon has really adopted to the medditerrean way to drive, so when we came to Split I could finally breath again, and I really hope that we don't have to drive too far tomorrow.

In Split we first checked out old town and then found a nice hostel where we had a little afternoon nap. A Canadian girl named Sascha worked there and she told us where to eat dinner and it was a cheap restaurant with only young people there. But the food was great and afterwards we went to the middle of old town taking a drink and watching an old man playing and singing romantic songs.

He was really good and there was also a guy that gave us a funny umbrella dance.

A crazy pirate also tried to steal my ice cream and then Simon got afraid and ran away.

Kathy has become our own Madame Le Grand asking us hard but interesting questions about life, sins and love.

I just heard that the weather in sweden is great, so I am starting to believe that I brought the bad weather from sweden over here.

Thanks and good bye liver pastage.

Right now were in a Motel outside town of Sinj. We came here yesterday after I drove Lindsay to the bus, it was pretty close that she should miss it. First of all we went up to the fortress of Klis! The weather was crazy with heavy rain that kept going for 10 hours and really crazy thunderstorms. It was exactly like beeing in Ronja Rövardotter and Mattisborgen but we had Albin instead of Skalle-Per.

I couldnt see shit while i was driving and none of us had the guts to go camping. The windows are closed so i dont know but today. Al is getting us some breakfast from the car, Tim is in the shower and Katie is still sleeping!

/Simon

After Albin made us breakfast and we drank a wel needed capuccino we again took to the road. After some fancy driving on very curly roads our first stop were   on a damm. We checked out the view, stoped Albin from jumping in and once again jumped into the car. Some more fancy driving and then we stopped at a lake. We went for a walk by the coastline of the lake. Throwed some rocks in it. Introduced Katie to the concept of bouncing rocks and drank some wine. On our  walk we made a new friend whom Simon named Anders. Anders was dog who followed us. We found out that Anders favourite was Albin. Albin felt hooured and wanted to bring the dog with us. After serious consideration Simon said no. We drove on to the other side of the lake were simon wanted to test tha cars floating capabilities. Albin saved us from finding ourself without a car while me and Katie desperetly looked for something to use as a life raft. Now we are checking out the area for a suiteble camping site.

Tim out.

Tisdag 23 juni -09 12.30

when tim finished his diary entry, the day had only just begun.  during our search for a campsite, we sited a small island offshore.  al walked across the water (it wasn't very deep) and the rest of us followed.  there was a small abandoned shack.  we don't think it had been deserted for very long since there was a piece of bread- in somewhat good condition- resting on a countertop.  al jumped through the window to see if he could salvage anything.  he quickly found the liquor cabinet and started rummaging through it.  simon quickly jumped through the window to help al explore.  the best find of the day- a knife- which we brought back with us.  all in all the cabin was a bit creepy.  it would have been the perfect setting for a horror movie.  everything was dirty and ransackled; it looked as though a tornado (or a group of bandits) had stormed through it. so we left.  let it be known that tim and i stood watch the entire time.  taking one for the team.

when we found our safe haven (ie our campsite), we got ourselves settled in.  we set up the tent and the badminton net.  my favorite part: when simon set up a bar on the hood of his car.  classic.  the night quickly escalated from there. the boys were quick to throw off all their clothes and jump into the lake.  we had a small oh tarzan moment.  we started a fire using scout's water (which I had never heard of before).  we had dinner and al decided that he should rinse out his mouth with some scout's water.  simon quickly took off his socks and tied them to a stick.  which is when i discovered the real purpose of scout's water- al lit the sock on fire and then spit the scout's water into the torch and bam- he was spewing and breathing fire.  he was like a dragon.  it completely rocked my world!!  i'm still not over it.  much drinking ensued.  and as we sat by the campfire, tim, al and simon sang swedish drinking songs.  so, we drank even more. at some point in the night (after all the alcohol was gone) al and simon disappeared and tim and I had a little heart to heart. it was beautiful. that's all really.  i feel like this entry has been a little boring.  so hmmm maybe i'll just end with a little bit of love for all.  these guys are the best. they keep me completely entertained.  i have no idea what today will bring.  i don't even know where we're going.  all simon told me is that we're going to go south to find good weather. ok. peace out and lots of love.

simon i just wrote a sentence but it was deleted.  croatia rocks.  those fire wine drinks were gross. ps.  i think that your tattoo is the coolest thing i have seen.  you should make it permanent.  lindsey is going to miss you.  and  me... well we will see after the next week.  you are the best skipper ever.  so they say.  and i
am impressed that you are friends with the president of croatia.  do Not cut your dreads UNLESS you let me make a mohawk out of your hair.... that would look good.  consider it.  seriously.  keep rocking the purple shirt.  best color ever.   maybe you are trying to compensate for the huge dent on your head-  oh and STOP bringing lucus¨ rats into the hotel. ok. deal. goodnight.  we love you. long time.

Dear Simon,
I am smooshing my fingers to type this...that does NOT mean that I'm cracking my knuckles, it means that you need to get a larger keyboard.  With that said, I'm kind of loving the fact that you have this perfect travel computer to carry around on the best sailing trips EVER.  Okay, so quick list of my favorite things today: Swedish drinking song lessons; car party in the rain; spaghetti cabonera with delicious BACON (totally your favorite) made by the best cooks you know; fire wine/wind/water (no one seems to know exactly what it is); AND the best coffee I've ever had in my life – the kind spiked with vodka.  You're my new hero, mostly because you keep your grandma's picture and your baby shoes in your dashboard, but also because you put Evan in his place by climbing up a pole.  (P.S. I think you're the pickiest music listener in history, but you've got good taste anyway.)  Have you ever thought about being a poet?  Think about it.  You sound like one sometimes.  Plus, if you became a famous poet, you'd totally have the coolest biography and automatically make a best-seller.  I'm volunteering ahead of time to be your publisher.  The Life and Travels of One Simon Lars Jonas.  That's what we can call the bio.  (By the way, you should probably flaunt your middle name.  Pretty sweet.)  Okay, I'm letting you go to bed, even though you're currently sleeping under my feet.  Can we arrange for you to be Swedish teacher??  I really need to brush up on the second language thing, PLUS I want to read your journals, and you don't seem to be translating them into English.  Peace.
